Organic Hair Care is a growing trend amongst the upper middle class. Shoppers have become more educated and made the decision to support green living in a permanent way. Todays commercial soaps and shampoos have many harsh and toxic chemicals in their formulations. This site exists to help educate people about the effects of the chemicals and to show them great organic hair products to replace them with. Should you come across a great product or have a great story, please send contributions to admin@organichaircare.org

Leek woman with natural hair. If that's not organic, I do not know what is.

Organic Hair Gel

Organic hair gel is often made of flax. You can buy some flax and mix a couple of tablespoons with a fragrance like lavender or almond. The oil is good for the hair and keeps it from getting all frizzy and misplaced.

You can also take some fresh flax seed and boil it into a paste. It will take about ten minutes and that will work well.

Ehow.com shows a recipe for hair gel that is made from gelatin (like you get at the grocery store). You can buy some gelatin and cook it and add fragrance and a few drops of oil.

There are organic hair companies that make hair gel. It is made similar to other commercial hair gels, but it has a smaller quantity of the “bad” chemicals.
