Organic Hair Care is a growing trend amongst the upper middle class. Shoppers have become more educated and made the decision to support green living in a permanent way. Todays commercial soaps and shampoos have many harsh and toxic chemicals in their formulations. This site exists to help educate people about the effects of the chemicals and to show them great organic hair products to replace them with. Should you come across a great product or have a great story, please send contributions to admin@organichaircare.org |

Organic IngredientsOrganic Shampoo: The ingredients are usually lavender, chamomile, honey, flax oil, olive oil, oatmeal, and fruits. Unfortunately, organic shampoos aren't regulated like organic food. In fact the name organic, doesn't mean a whole lot to the cosmetic industry. It can mean almost anything. What you usually find are commercially based products with an organic flavor. For example, honey and oatmeal may be added to shampoo that has less of the harmful chemicals than other shampoo, but they are still there. There are some more purist organic shampoos that are made of clays, but they are hard to find.Organic and Natural Soap: Natural or organic soap is made of lye, water, and oil. You can add almost any oil or fragrance into the soap to make it fun. The good part about doing soap organically is that the whole experience can be soothing. It's nice to find something that is soothing to the senses of sight, smell, and feel. Soap can do so much more than just get you clean. Many of the commercially based soaps are just to get you clean. You don't want them lingering too long because it irritates you. That's why organic is the way to go if you can afford a little bit extra. |
